Frequently Asked Questions
How does your meal service work?
We operate like a local farm-to-table milkman. We partner with local growers, prepare their harvests into ready-to-heat-and-eat meals, package them in reusable glass jars, then deliver them to your doorstep on Fridays. They arrive in a cooler bag with an ice pack and will stay cool for 4+ hours after arrival, depending on the season. We also offer free pickups. When you order again, we ask that you place last week’s cooler bag, rinsed jars & lids, and ice pack on your doorstep for the exchange. If you selected pickup, please leave these items at our pickup locations.

Where does your food come from?
The vast majority of our food is from the state of Texas, and most of it is grown or raised within an hour of Austin. We partner with a variety of incredible local farmers, prioritizing those who engage in organic and regenerative practices. Some of our primary farmers include Boggy Creek Farm, Shirttail Creek Farm, Belle Vie Farm, Capra Farm, and Steelbow Farm.
Are your meals organic?
Our meals are not 100% certified organic. We choose to prioritize supporting small local farms who are growing with integrity rather than outsourcing from larger farms in other states that are certified organic. All of our meals are AOALA, as-organic-as-local-allows. For example, there are no 100% grass-fed and grass-finished, certified organic beef ranchers in the state of Texas. However, there are wonderful farms like Shirttail Creek who are raising their cows with integrity, 100% pasture-raised and grass-fed and grass finished.
How do I heat the meals?
Specific heating instructions come in the printed version of our newsletter each week. Here are some general guidelines for heating your meals.
Stovetop: Heat over medium / medium-high heat until warm.
Oven: Warm in 350°F preheated oven for ~10 minutes.
Microwave: Heat in microwave-safe dish until warm.
You can also freeze your meals, but make sure there is 10% empty space in the jar of to allow for expansion.
